I return to birds again and again — for their movement, their energy, the way they hold both fragility and strength.
My work usually starts with a really loose, scribbled sketch — like the ones in my sketchbook — before I begin layering in more expressive marks.
From there, it changes quite a bit as I go, gradually coming together into the final piece.
